Troop 498 was founded in April 1998 by a group of leaders lead by Scoutmaster Ronald T. Landers and Bruce Alvin at All Saints Lutheran Church in Orlando,
In 2001, the Troop expanded and moved to South Orlando Baptist Church promoting a Character Building Experience through our new charter organization, and cooperation with other community leaders to train them in Scoutcraft, and to teach them patriotism, courage, self-reliance, and kindred virtues, using the methods which are in common use by the Boy Scouts.
The Troop has grown over the past 26 years to over 53 Eagle Scouts and continues to meet the needs of today's youth. Many of our community leaders credit their Scouting background for their progress, exemplary character, and citizenship. Today's program is under the leadership of Bob Gibson, Scoutmaster beginning with boys in the sixth grade and includes young men in high school. Teaching youth and adults to make value judgments and the importance of traditional values continue to make the Scouting program strong.
The leadership of the Troop is dedicated continuing to expand the Scouting movement and to continue to be a proactive organization.
